Matching Green C of E (VC) Primary School

Letter from Chair of Governors

6th February 2018

Dear Parents / Carers

I hope you have all had a chance to read the report received from Ofsted last week confirming that we continue to be a good school. Following the report, Miss Wareham and I received a letter from Clare Kershaw, Director of Education, acknowledging the work done and the strengths of the school, including:

  • children making a positive start in the high quality early years provision and continuing to make good progress as they move through the school
  • staff to get to know each pupil individually and use this personal approach to ensure that pupil’s social and emotional needs are effectively met
  • the happy purposeful atmosphere in classes and around the school and pupils who are friendly and confident
  • the securely good quality of teaching across the school and high staff morale
  • the commitment of leaders and governors to maintain the good standard of education for pupils

In addition to this, Miss Wareham received a letter of congratulations from The Venerable Elwin Cockett, Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education. In it he writes

“I would like to congratulate you and your governors and staff on the outcome, and in particular acknowledge the deeply embedded determination of you and your governors to do the best for all your pupils that has ensured that the school has continued to move forward since the previous inspection”.

He goes on to acknowledge that “several changes in leadership” have had their impact. It is no secret that the school has been through a turbulent time since the last inspection, but this further enforces the hard work and commitment of Miss Wareham, the Staff (and governors) to ensure the school was and is a place that deserves comments such as those in the report.

I would like to express my personal thanks, as well as on behalf of the Governing Body, to Miss Wareham, the Staff and those parents who all commit to making Matching Green Primary the school that means so much to us all.

Yours sincerely

Toni Neville

Chair of Governors
