Welcome

Welcome to Matching Green Church of England Primary School

Thank you for making an enquiry about Matching Green C.E. Primary School. Matching School has served the community on its present site for over 100 years.

Matching Green School is a unique village school where the Victorian buildings interface with 21st Century technology and the latest teaching techniques. All this and set in one of the most picturesque school grounds and environment that God created.

Matching School is small but has big heart with a proactive governing body, a very lively PTA and a highly motivated, professional staff. At our school the children get a wonderful start to their educational journey.

A school could stand still and flourish gently but here at Matching Green C.E. Primary School we are all looking forward to developing our school further for the benefit of our pupils current and future. Having replaced our heating and wiring put in a new Early Years play area and new corridor, we are now in the process of creating a fully interactive IT environment for our pupils. The school has been awarded the coveted Investors in People, Healthy School Award, Active Mark and the FA Charter Mark. We are currently forging links with local businesses to ensure all our children have a growing knowledge and understanding of the world around them. The school has had a fantastic OFSTED inspection and we are all very proud of this.

Matching School is at the heart of the local community and we are especially proud of our links with Matching Church, our school uses the old St. Edmunds church building as a hall and meeting room and our new school logo captures the spirit of St. Edmund last King of The East Angles who was a martyr to his faith. (The crown and arrows are St. Edmunds crest and the Pentagon represents the five roads that surround Matching Green.)

If you want to know more pay us a visit and experience the warmth and professionalism in this unique family orientated school please telephone us on 01279 731225 and make an appointment to come and see us.

The pupils, staff, governors and parents have produced a statement of values about our school this is called our mission statement. Our mission statement is :-

At Matching Green Primary school we aim to provide every member of our school community with:

A safe secure and happy environment.

An opportunity to achieve their full potential, (spiritual, cultural, moral, physical and academic)

A high quality relevant education.

A sound preparation for their next phase of learning.

An awareness of values,

The value of community

The value of learning

A totally unique family centred, Christian community where every individual is valued and their successes celebrated.

The school sets out to achieve this mission statement by setting a set of clear aims and objectives.

The aims of Matching Green C.E. Primary School are agreed by the Governing Body in conjunction with the LEA policy statement. It is the intention of all within our school to offer a broad and balanced curriculum drawing substantially from each of the following areas of experience and learning: Linguistic, Mathematical, Technological, Cultural, Spiritual, Moral and Physical.

We believe

We aim

That every child needs to be both literate and numerate to gain full access to all areas of life and that children should be encouraged to both question and challenge assumptions rationally so that they gain a greater understanding of the world in which we live.

To develop their knowledge and understanding of all areas through encouraging ‘hands-on’ experiences and developing thought processes which enable children to enjoy discovering new areas of learning.

That every child should be given the opportunity to achieve their full potential and to further extend areas in which they are talented.

To develop lively, enquiring minds where children are both challenged and supported.

That every child has the right to equal access to all areas of school life and that all children should have a feeling of self-worth, pride and fulfilment in all that they do and achieve.

To encourage children to become confident, independent learners who can take personal responsibility for their learning, taking pride and putting maximum effort into their learning.

That all children should be given opportunities to consider the differing cultures, beliefs and lifestyles that exist in our multi-cultural society.

To encourage all children to develop a caring attitude towards all and a sensitive appreciation of the differences, beliefs and attitudes to life of others.

That all children should be given opportunities to discover their own individual inner-self.

To nurture all children giving them opportunities to develop their own spirituality in an atmosphere of trust through discussions and reflection time.

That it is through a close partnership between home and school that children will gain the maximum possible from their education.

To foster close links with parents in all aspects of school life and to maintain an ‘Open Door’ policy whereby all parental views can be heard and valued.

That it is essential to foster close ties with the local community (the residents, schools and local businesses), as there is a wealth of differing talents that can be accessed for the benefit of our children.

To pursue all opportunities for our children to link with the local and wider communities to ensure that our children understand the world in which they live and the interdependence of individuals groups and nations.
